Dans cette édition, nous rencontrons la cosmologiste Dr Lucie Baumont, qui passe ses journées à éplucher, trier et interpréter les téraoctets de données d’images envoyées par le télescope Euclid, qui, situé à 1,5 million de kilomètres de la Terre, nous offre un aperçu extraordinaire des confins du cosmos.

Au cœur de cette inimaginable panoplie de galaxies se cachent des phénomènes de lentille gravitationnelle – ces courbures de l’espace-temps qui nous permettent de ‘voir’ l’invisible – et de percevoir les traces de l’un des ingrédients les plus mystérieux de notre univers : la matière noire.

Dans un environnement multisensoriel composé par l’artiste immersif kio flo, entrelacé d’une partition musicale originale de Stephen Fuller, tout en mélange hybride entre virtuél et présentiel, ce trio de créateurs cosmiques vous invite à un voyage vers la source de l’univers – et les déformations, les oscillations et les merveilles qui le définissent.

Cette création est facilitée par la formidable équipe de bénévoles de la Fondation Zénon-Alary, réalisée grâce au travail du Consortium Euclide, et avec le soutien du Conseil des Arts du Canada.

In this edition, we meet cosmologist Dr Lucie Baumont, who spends her days sifting, sorting and making sense of the terabytes of image data sent home to earth from the Euclid telescope, which from its orbit 1.5 million kilometres from Earth offers us an extraordinary glimpse of the far reaches of the cosmos. 

Tucked in amongst this unimaginable panoply of galaxies are occurrences of gravitational lensing – the bends in spacetime which allow us to see the otherwise unseeable – and perceive hints of one of the most mysterious ingredients of our universe – dark matter.

In a multi-sensory environment composed by immersive artist kio flo, interwoven with an original musical score by Stephen Fuller, all in a hybrid of live and virtual performance, this trio of cosmic creators invites you on a journey back towards the source of the universe – and the warps, wobbles and wonders which define it. 

This creation is made in collaboration with the Euclid Consortium, with support from the Canada Council of the Arts, and facilitated by the amazing team of volunteers at Fondation Zénon-Alary – featuring some surprise finds from the weekly Bazar 🙂
