Biography
Stephen Fuller is an interdisciplinary artist with a background in environmental geography, who works from his studio by the Rivière du Nord in Mont Rolland.
His award-winning work in music composition & production expands and contracts into the parallel disciplines of multimedia (videographic storytelling) and making (real and virtual musical instrument building). Stephen thrives in the realms of interdisciplinary exploration, innovation and collaboration.

Stephen Fuller est un artiste interdisciplinaire ayant une formation en géographie environnementale, qui travaille depuis son atelier au bord de la rivière du Nord à Mont Rolland.
Son travail primé en composition et production musicale s’étend et se contracte dans les disciplines parallèles du multimédia (narration vidéographique) et de la fabrication (construction d’instruments de musique réels et virtuels). Stephen s’épanouit dans les domaines de l’exploration interdisciplinaire, de l’innovation et de la collaboration.
Artist Statement
My work as an artist is defined by a triumvirate of interwoven practices – musical and sonic composition, media arts documentation & storytelling, and making – habitats, objects and moments.
Through my work I explore and inspect my own conceptual and sensorial relationships to place, as well as that of collaborators and contributors. My creations are therefore necessarily perpetual works in progress, like the waterworld which inform them, and so they shift, amend and change states as they tumble through time, seasons, social contexts and inner evolutions.
I think most about how changing perspective can change outcomes, and how inhabiting the present necessarily involves rooting perspective in the past and nourishing outlook for the future through human-scale initiatives.
Démarche Artistique
Mon travail d’artiste est défini par un triumvirat de pratiques entrelacées – composition musicale et sonore, documentation et narration des arts médiatiques, et création – d’habitats, d’objets et de moments.
À travers mon travail, j’explore et inspecte mes propres relations conceptuelles et sensorielles au lieu, ainsi que celles de mes collaborateurs et contributeurs. Mes créations sont donc nécessairement des œuvres perpétuelles en cours, à l’image du monde aquatique qui les façonne, et ainsi elles se déplacent, se modifient et changent d’état au fil du temps, des saisons, des contextes sociaux et des évolutions intérieures.
Je pense surtout à la façon dont un changement de perspective peut changer les résultats, et à la façon dont habiter le présent implique nécessairement d’enraciner la perspective dans le passé et de nourrir une vision d’avenir à travers des initiatives à échelle humaine.
